The AVEHI Public Charitable (Educational) Trust champions empowerment via education. Established by individuals from varied backgrounds, the Trust uti Read morelizes audio-visual media to nurture critical thinking, social consciousness, and societal change. Through the Avehi Resource Centre, equipped with a diverse library, the Trust facilitates community access to alternative media, promoting values of equality, social justice, gender awareness, and secularism. In 1990, the Avehi Abacus Project commenced to enrich formal education with supplementary content. Emphasizing outreach to marginalized groups and influencing mainstream educational policies, the project strives to elevate the quality and inclusivity of public education. Renowned for its impactful materials, the project has devised three interdisciplinary teaching modules melding social and natural sciences. Guided by the belief in the interconnectedness of education, social justice, and environmental sustainability, it advocates for an engaged, learner-centric educational framework. Its mission encompasses enhancing educational standards, empowering educators, and advocating for universally accessible, high-quality education for all children from infancy to age eighteen.

Tailored for teachers and students in formal schools and Non-formal Education (NFE) centres, it serves as a foundation course for Classes V – VII and a post-literacy programme for ages 10 to 16. Each kit includes a teacher's manual and visual aids, emphasizing values like equality, sensitivity, and environmental concern. The curriculum encourages holistic learning, fostering self-confidence, critical thinking, and interdependence among children.

    Manthan, meaning churning, serves as a foundational course for pre-service teacher training, aiming to address the stagnant nature of teacher education in India. Instead of replacing existing structures, Manthan seeks to supplement the mainstream curriculum. Conducted by regular teacher educators, it covers the National Council of Teacher Education's prescribed areas of Foundations of Education and Curriculum and Pedagogy. Split into two years, the curriculum delves into educational fundamentals in Year One, progressing to societal issues like caste, class, gender, nationalism, and the environment in Year Two, fostering a holistic understanding of education's role in society.
