Access to Medicines
We started the Access Campaign, also referred to as the Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines, in 1999. Its three main objectives are to remove obstacles to the acquisition of necessary medications, promote health exceptions to international trade agreements, and encourage research and development for neglected diseases. The Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), a non-profit research and development organisation dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapies for neglected diseases, was established in 2003 by MSF in collaboration with several research institutes, including the Institut Pasteur.

Natural Disasters
Tens of thousands of lives can be impacted by natural disasters in a couple of minutes. Homes and livelihoods might be destroyed, and hundreds or even thousands of people can suffer injuries. Transport, healthcare, and clean water access may all be hampered. Every crisis has a different impact, and we must modify our approach depending on the circumstances.
Needs must be determined promptly, but when roads are closed, getting to a disaster area might be difficult. People who are already on the scene, such as members of the community, law enforcement, and assistance agencies, are the first responders.
We maintain pre-assembled kits on hand for quick deployment of life-saving aids. We frequently have relief workers on hand when a tragedy occurs thanks to our operations in more than 70 countries. They can be strengthened by adding more teams if required.
