    Uttar Pradesh

BJKSS addresses the unemployment and skills gap among underprivileged youth in Shrawasti District, recognizing the need for both employable skills and life skills like self-confidence and entrepreneurship. With a focus on poverty eradication, it runs vocational training programs in Sirsia and Hariharpur Rani Blocks, catering to youngsters from impoverished families. The 30 to 90-day courses equip unemployed youth (aged 18 and above) with vocational skills, ensuring job placements or initiating income-generating activities. The programme aims for rural youth self-reliance, emphasizing values alongside skill development, such as tailoring, beauty parlour, and computer operations. Training centres in needy village centres offer these courses, contributing significantly to poverty reduction, with 147 youths trained, many finding employment or engaging in self-employment opportunities.

  • Livelihoods Programme

    District

    Shravasti

    States

    Uttar Pradesh

BJKSS collaborates with other organisations to aid poverty reduction and livelihood enhancement, envisioning a state where every family experiences dignity, equity, freedom from hunger, and an annual income of Rs. 1 lakh from various sources. In Uttar Pradesh, where a substantial 37% live below the poverty line, the organisation focuses on agricultural challenges, recognizing that over a quarter of farmers find their profession unprofitable and seek alternative careers due to low social regard. With limited access to markets and small landholdings, farmers face debts, surviving on meagre profits for only a few months. BJKSS aims to alleviate these challenges by improving market access, diversifying livelihoods, and breaking barriers to employment for the literate population, contributing to poverty alleviation and livelihood improvements.

  • Child Rights Programme

    States

    Uttar Pradesh

BJKSS has spearheaded rights-based initiatives at grassroots levels to ensure the sustainable realization of key child rights. The organisation focuses on various rights, beginning with the Right to Survival, advocating for community-based healthcare systems, disease education, and nutritional counselling. It emphasizes the Right to Development by establishing alternative education centres, promoting school enrollment, fostering entrepreneurship, and supporting agricultural practices for food security. Additionally, BJKSS prioritizes the Right to Protection, tracking missing children, providing rehabilitation, and educating communities to prevent trafficking and violence. Lastly, it encourages the Right to Participation, forming children's groups, facilitating community engagement, promoting folk art performances, and empowering girl-child student teachers, ensuring children actively participate in decisions affecting their lives and futures.
