The Feline Foundation

The Feline Foundation conducts a Sterilization Program aimed at controlling the population of stray and pet cats in Mumbai. This surgical procedure, performed by skilled veterinarians, prevents unwanted litter and includes post-operative care and rabies vaccinations. With an estimated population of up to a million stray cats in Mumbai facing numerous risks such as malnutrition, diseases, injuries, and more, sterilization offers multiple benefits. It curbs overpopulation, reduces injuries from fights and accidents, lowers cancer rates, and prevents the spread of diseases among cats and colonies, ultimately improving their welfare.

The Feline Foundation runs a Stray Cat Community Care Programme that encourages volunteers to contribute to the welfare of stray cats in Mumbai. Volunteers assist in various tasks such as feeding, cleaning, organising events, and documenting rescue stories. The organization requests a commitment of at least three hours per week for a minimum of four months to ensure effective utilization of resources. Additionally, individuals can become stray cat feeders, providing nutritious meals to cats in their locality to improve their health and socialization. Furthermore, the organisation facilitates the adoption of stray cats with lingering health issues or disabilities, aiming to provide them with loving homes and a chance at a fulfilling life.
