Bangalore Food Bank was started on 16th October 2014, the World Food Day and registered as Feeding Bangalore Foundation on 24th December 2014 under Se Read morection 8 of Companies Act 2013 with a vision to address the issues of hunger, malnutrition and food wastage.  The foundation runs various programs such as "The NGO Feeding Program" to support NGOs running residential programs with their monthly grocery requirements, "Food Rescue Program" to prevent food wastage, "Breakfast Feeding Program" for school children and "Food Relief Programs" in emergency situations.

Programs

  • NGO Feeding Program

Recognizing the critical role NGOs play in supporting communities in need, Bangalore Food Bank has developed an NGO Feeding Program to provide essential groceries to beneficiary organizations. The program aims to ensure a sustainable and regular supply of groceries to these organizations, allowing them to focus on their core objectives without the burden of meeting day-to-day necessities. By supplying items such as rice, pulses, oil, and snacks every month to identified NGOs, the program supports 15 non-profit organizations benefiting 1690 beneficiaries currently. With a focus on improving nutritional interventions and enabling organizations to stay focused on their vision, the program seeks to expand its reach to assist more individuals in need, inviting support from the community to further its impact.

  • School Feeding Program

The School Feeding Programs implemented by Bangalore Food Bank address the challenge of childhood malnutrition among low-income families, aiming to improve academic performance, attendance, and overall well-being of students. Currently supporting 1080 students across 3 schools in Bangalore, the program provides freshly cooked nutritious meals daily, tailored to local food culture and nutritional needs. By alleviating the health and developmental consequences of malnutrition, the program promotes higher school attendance, lower dropout rates, improved concentration, and relief for parents and guardians. Impact measurement tools are employed to track students' nutritional growth, ensuring the program's effectiveness in supporting the holistic development of children.
