We center our work on the needs and perspectives of rural, marginalized women and girls, and are focused on improving the multiple factors that influence their reproductive health and lives. This is why our programs use a multifaceted approach to strengthen women’s and girls’ ability to access sexual and reproductive health care services – from individual health knowledge and self-efficacy, to social and community support, to a trained health workforce, to government ownership and supportive laws. We do this through intense on-ground community and health system initiatives, working in collaboration with the national and state governments, and by nurturing local networks. Over the past two decades, IDF has had formal partnerships with 14 state governments – we currently implement programs in 10 states.
