In 2000, Ipas introduced the concept of Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) in India, marking a significant shift in abortion services. Through successful pilot programs in three states, efforts were concentrated on transforming abortion services from clinical procedures to holistic, women-centered care. A notable achievement of these initiatives was the transition from the term "MTP" to "CAC," reflecting the focus on the woman's experience. Central to this approach is the development of a skilled workforce, ensuring both ongoing training for eligible doctors and the delivery of high-quality CAC services, even in remote rural areas.

The woman-centered CAC approach by Ipas Development Foundation (IDF) considers various factors impacting a woman's health needs, including physical and mental well-being, personal circumstances, and access to services.
