Fairtrade India Project
Established in 2015 through a Memorandum of Understanding between Fairtrade International and the Centre for Social Markets, the Fairtrade India Project focuses on promoting sustainability in food and fashion production and consumption. Embracing the Fairtrade International model, the project aims to enhance sustainable livelihoods for small and marginal farmers by advocating for sustainability across agricultural value chains. By fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including farmer organizations, brands, retailers, consumers, and civil society networks, the project endeavors to create a more sustainable ecosystem for food, fashion, and agricultural products. Its key pillars include promoting sustainable production practices, facilitating market linkages for Fairtrade-certified farmer producer organizations, and raising awareness about sustainability among businesses and consumers.
