In the process of women empowerment, the organization has established and fortified women self-help groups within the district's operational area. Efforts are being made to connect some of these groups with formal financial institutions such as banks to facilitate access to credit. By the end of the financial year 2014-2015, CARD has facilitated the formation of over 30 groups, which have undergone training and capacity-building initiatives and are operating at varying levels of efficiency. Additionally, self-help groups consisting of parents of children with disabilities have been formed, initiating income-generating programs to support their children. CARD also offers vocational training in activities such as coir product manufacturing and mushroom cultivation, with products being sold in the local market.

    State

In the malaria-endemic Ganjam district, where cases of malarial fever are among the highest reported, there exists a pressing need for awareness and prevention measures. CARD endeavors to educate the residents of Kukudakhadi block about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and utilizing mosquito nets to control the disease. Local methods, such as using smoke from jhuna, dry cow dung, and neem leaves, are also recommended. Supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and the District Health Administration, a program was initiated to distribute medicated mosquito nets to households under the Bed Net Impregnation Programme. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the District Vector-Borne Disease Control Society, resulted in a significant reduction in malarial fever cases in targeted areas. The organization aims to extend this project to cover more regions in the future.
