In Champa, a small town in Central India, Dr. Daniel Abraham started a leper ministry. He was deeply affected by the lepers' living conditions there, which inspired him to create St. Paul's Hostel for Girls in Dehradun in 2000. This dormitory was established to care for children from homes affected by leprosy and now attempts to educate females from underprivileged areas.

Starting with just 20 kids, the dormitory started offering Hindi-medium education to its students in 2001. The number of kids kept rising over time. Because of the resulting practical issues, the hostel was moved to Samrala, Punjab in 2005. In response to the growing issue of gender inequality in society, the hostel began concentrating on housing girls in 2007. Currently, about 100 girls in the dormitory, ranging in age from five to sixteen, receive an English-medium education up to class twelve.

  • Skill Development

While older girls take computer, sewing, and knitting classes, younger girls engage in enjoyable hobbies like painting and beading.

In addition, this Trust operates a slum school in Punjab's Shanti Nagar, Macchiwara. Many youngsters come from families of migrant labourers who come from the most underdeveloped and impoverished regions of India.

The families in Punjab labour for minimum earnings that hardly cover their basic expenses on farms and in factories.

The school's mission is to give these kids a foundational education because they wouldn't have the chance to otherwise and would have to spend their early years helping their parents on farms.
