    2009

The Tushita Foundation India was brought into being on 1st August 2009 in Amber by Tushita Travels. The initial idea, which is still the core of our p Read morehilosophy, was to give free after- school support to the children of Amber. The foundation runs in four batches- 1st is the ‘Train the Teachers’ Session (90 mins) followed by 3 students’ sessions (for 75 mins. each). The Tushita Foundation is open from 12- 6 PM, Monday to Saturday, 10 months per year, closing only in May and June. From the beginning, we have been working to improve the health of our children in our own little ways. We provide students with small refreshment (mostly fruits) every day. We have successfully organized three health check-up camps in collaboration with ‘Save the Children’.

Action

The foundation provides free after-school English education and support to children in Amer, as well as health initiatives, cultural activities, and empowerment programs for local women.

Impact

Over 300 children are enrolled in the foundation's programs, receiving daily English classes, health check-ups, and opportunities for cultural enrichment and personal growth.

Vision & Mission

The vision is to spread self-respect and confidence among underprivileged children and families in India through education and empowerment, irrespective of caste or creed.

Programs

  • After School Classes

The organisation has been vocalising its opposition to the upper-class communities' discriminatory practices against the Dalits and other oppressed groups (who are constitutionally classed as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward classes) for many years. Additionally, it has been stepping in to improve the situation of the latter by bringing them into the mainstream socioeconomic structure and lessening the atrocities and discrimination against them. The strategies we have used in this situation include lobbying and lobbies, community awareness, intervention, etc.

Milestones & Track Record

Opened a learning center in Amer in 2010, expanded to include health initiatives and women's empowerment programs, and has taken students on educational trips to sites like the Taj Mahal.
