VIEWS is dedicated to providing quality education to disadvantaged and vulnerable children from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), migrant, and fishing communities residing in urban slums and rural hamlets of Odisha through its Children’s Learning Centre. Trained teachers employ activity-based learning and games to create an enjoyable educational experience, encouraging students to eagerly attend school each day. Additionally, these teachers raise awareness on child rights, the right to education, and personal health and hygiene within the community, aiming to encourage parents to prioritize their children's education and reduce dropout rates. VIEWS actively promotes mothers' groups and organizes regular parents-teachers meetings, while also facilitating the enrollment of students in government schools to ensure they have access to mainstream education.

In low-income settings, women and girls often lack awareness of hygienic practices and face challenges accessing culturally appropriate materials for menstrual hygiene management (MHM). The stigma and taboo surrounding menstruation result in silence and shame, limiting mobility, freedom, and access to normal activities for women and girls. VIEWS endeavors to educate women and adolescent girls about MHM, emphasizing the importance of using clean menstrual management practices. The organization educates them on their rights to access clean menstrual products and maintain personal hygiene, including proper facilities for disposing of used products.

Impact

IEWS promotes and supports communities in its operational area to set up nutrition gardens for continuous supply of fresh vegetables to their kitchen. After identification of available land, the women are provided seeds and tools besides training on organic manures and pesticides to equip them to grow vegetables and meet their nutritional needs. DSC06288 SYSTEM OF MILLET INTENSIFICATION (SMI) Our team is working alongside the Odisha government to promote the production of millet and consumption of millet-based products which are highly nutritious and a great alternative to water-intensive crops like paddy to withstand crop diversification and climate change. SYSTEM OF RICE INTENSIFICATION (SRI) VIEWS has been working with more than 6000 farmers to enhance their paddy production by applying scientific methods and by changing the management of plants, soil, water, and nutrients to increase the yield. The method brings about early, quick and healthy plant growth, ensuring improved soil quality with enriched organic matter. COMMERCIAL VEGETABLE CULTIVATION Progressive farmers from the tribal and Dalit communities are identified, trained and supported to grow vegetables by using sustainable practices to enhance production and increase household income.

Vision and Mission

VIEWS' vision is a self-reliant Odisha where communities thrive in peace and dignity. Its mission is to empower vulnerable communities to improve their quality of life.
