Turning Point Educational Trust

Turning Point Educational Trust is a non-profit organization working with vulnerable children in disadvantaged slums of Chennai. Our main focus is to Read more work as a change agent in the lives of slum children in Ezhil Nagar, Kannagi Nagar and Perumbakkam. We operate with small grants, gifts and donations made by corporate, government departments, voluntary organizations and individuals. During last 10 years 96 children were completed school education and completed under graduation. During the last year we have enrolled about 24 children in to under graduate courses in various colleges. We ensure that every child in the motivation and learning center perform best and score more marks. We identify dropout children, motivate, provide special counselling and re-enroll them in to government schools. About 5000 slum children were been supported through various programs during last ten years. Life-skill, motivational and creative training made children free from violence, abuses and positively convert their opportunities. We also operate skill training to young women on Readymade and Garment Making, Retail Sales and Computer Billing Courses and place them jobs. We are prime partner with government to prevent and generate awareness on COVID-19 and rehabilitate and provide relief materials to about 8,789 families in the slum areas. Along with the government, Turning Point organized mobile clinics and fever tests at door to door and referred positive cases to the government hospitals.

The mission of Turning Point Educational Trust is to transform the lives of disadvantaged urban poor through holistic development across Health, Education, Water & Sanitation and Economic Development by creating a scalable, replicable and community-centric model of sustainable development.

The organization has worked with 565 children from Government Schools, produced 180 graduates, and maintained a 0% dropout rate among its beneficiaries.
