The organization offers a comprehensive range of educational programs, covering subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, along with extracurricular activities like art, music, and sports. The organization is dedicated to enhancing education and additional skills for underprivileged students residing in the slum area of Kannaki Nagar, Thoraipakkam. They achieve this through the provision of free tuition classes, computer classes, and dance classes conducted during both morning and evening sessions. Furthermore, economically disadvantaged women and widows are imparted with tailoring skills through afternoon sessions. Two individuals, Uma and her husband Vasudevan, who faced the challenges of growing up in poverty and overcoming educational barriers, have devoted their lives to enhancing the education of children in the slums of Chennai. The couple, driven by their own experiences, established KS Welfare Trust, a non-profit organization committed to offering free education to children in Kannagi Nagar. Their primary objective is to provide these children with opportunities they never had, breaking the cycle of poverty through education. At KS Welfare Trust, Uma and Vasudevan tirelessly work towards delivering high-quality education, encompassing subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, along with extracurricular activities such as art, music, and sports. Beyond being an educational institution, KS Welfare Trust serves as a haven where children feel secure, supported, and cared for. Uma and Vasudevan, akin to family for their students, go the extra mile to address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Those inspired by Uma and Vasudevan's story and the transformative work at KS Welfare Trust are encouraged to participate and contribute, supporting the provision of education, supplies, and assistance to the children under their care. Gratitude is extended for the generosity and belief in the transformative power of education. The term "slum" often conjures images of resettlement colonies associated with crime, violence, drugs, and illicit activities. With a dream of fostering social well-being and a positive living environment, the initiative was undertaken to counteract the negatives and introduce free education for societal upliftment. Over the years, the endeavour has impacted more than 1700 learners, encompassing academic, dropout, and non-academic categories. The commitment involves providing free food, snacks, learning accessories, and engaging tutors and mentors to enhance social skills. The focus remains unwavering—to uphold the hopes of learners and their families, addressing issues like pain, betrayal, manoeuvring, economic challenges, and personal problems. • Food - Life Line Making and Change

The vision is to add value and meaning to the remaining years of the elders' lives by providing better food, and clothes, finding cost-effective housing options, and encouraging family reunification. For slum kids and children, even small contributions can create a significant positive change. The organisation cooks and serves food, provides food kits, and seeks support for these efforts, emphasizing the impact of collective contributions on the lives of those in need.
