Gnanodaya School is located in Venkatapuram village, near Singaperumal Koil, Chengalpet. The current strength of the school is 164 students from lepro Read moresy affected families and underprivileged Children from nearby villages. The school has classes from pre-school to 10th standard and the School has achieved 100% results in all past board exams, since taken over by Gnanodaya Rehabilitation Association. The school has hostel accommodating 55 students. The school was started by DIK (German Association for Children’s Education). Impressed by the Work done by St. John’s Leprosy Welfare Association, DIK helped to purchase land to construct the school and hostel buildings using their FCRA (Foreign Currency Regulation Act) permission. After 10 years of exemplary work, there was a split in St. John’s leprosy Welfare Association and a new organisation called the “Gnanodaya Rehabilitation Association” was formed to continue with the operations of the school. Today, the school along with the playground and agricultural land has been brought under this association and the association has collaborated with DIK to run the school.
