The Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan, or BMMA, has received administrative support from the Ashana Trust. Among its accomplishments are: · After a 12-year campaign, the triple divorce law was successfully passed. Obtained a ruling from the Supreme Court allowing women to enter Haji Ali Dargah · Trained fifteen women to become qazis. · Taught thousands of Muslims about their rights in law · Trained Muslim women to take the lead on all socio-economic and legal matters. · Established Sehr and Udaan Groups to empower Muslim youth with self-assurance

Programs

  • Legal Aid & Campaigns

    Not only do we assist Muslim women in court, but we also offer support to any women in need. We visit homes, provide family counselling, go with women to the police station, and other activities. The main focus of Ashana Trust's activities through BMMA is advocating for changes to Muslim family law.

  • Health

    Conducts Health Camps & Sexual Awareness
    Health camps are held frequently. Training on sexual and reproductive health is provided to young women. Government-run medical facilities are under observation
