Sarvahitey

The initiative was launched to educate the children residing in "Hoshiyarpur," a village adjacent to Noida. The primary objective was to address the prevailing social, financial, and educational challenges in the village. Initially focusing on the children, the project gradually expanded its reach to include uneducated adults. Volunteers are dedicated to uplifting the educational and cultural standards of both the children and their parents at F-56, Sector 51, Noida.
Since the inception of Vidya Vistar, classes have expanded to four days a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Weekdays and Saturdays are dedicated to core subjects like Mathematics, English, Science, and Hindi. On Sundays, volunteers conduct recreational and alternative education sessions, such as motivational screenings like "Malgudi Days," quizzes, and arts and crafts classes.

During a stroll from Vidya Vistar Gole Market, Sarvahitey encountered a vast slum settlement on Kali Bari Marg, revealing distressing educational conditions among underprivileged children in the area. This prompted the NGO members to conceive a new project to address these educational gaps.
With Vidya Vistar Gole Market operating steadily and an excess of volunteers available, the establishment of the entire project took only a few days. The remarkable enthusiasm displayed by the children at Kali Bari Marg served as a significant motivator for the volunteers, fuelling their interest in launching this new initiative.
Following the model successfully implemented at VV Gole Market, the same approach was adopted for the new project. In a short time, volunteers and children were engaging in educational activities six times a day, including sessions on three weekdays. The enthusiastic participation of these children further enriched the project's quality.

Collaborating with locals and leveraging insights from trustees and members with roots in Patna, Sarvahitey identified an area where children of daily wage earners were enthusiastic about learning. Promptly, they established a mini-school aimed at providing essential education and fostering socio-cultural growth.
Presently, Sarvahitey is gratified to have about 40 children enrolled in Anisabad, Patna, where they receive regular curriculum-based education on weekdays and participate in engaging activities during weekends.
Complementing the mini-school, Sarvahitey is in the process of setting up a comprehensive library, already initiated with a substantial collection of books within the school premises. Sarvahitey remains committed to extending support and encouragement to those keen on learning. This commitment is vividly demonstrated in their efforts in Patna.

Under the leadership of Ms. Deepali Ahuja, a guest lecturer at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute for Physically Handicapped, Sarvahitey members convene weekly at F-56, Sector 51, Noida. Here, they teach housemaids and other unskilled women to create various items like mobile covers, diyas, Christmas trees, and more. These crafted articles are then sold through various channels.
Through this initiative, Sarvahitey aims to enable these unskilled women to substantially increase their income levels, fostering self-sufficiency and empowerment in a society often driven by financial capital.

On November 8, 2016, the Indian government declared the demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes, leading to a rush for legal tender at ATMs and banks. In response to this, the members of Sarvahitey actively participated in the fight against corruption and black money. To assist honest taxpayers facing long queues at banks, they initiated the "Together We Stand" project.
The goal was to support those waiting in lines by providing them with tea and snacks such as biscuits and savouries. Mobilizing their volunteers, the organisation distributed refreshments at various locations across Delhi and Noida.

Under the initiative named 'Project Paper Bridge,' Sarvahitey aims to establish a total of 1,000 libraries, focusing on setting up 100 in North East India by December 2020. Besides establishing new libraries, their efforts include collaborating with existing, underutilized libraries and revitalizing them. These library locations are strategically chosen to serve geographically and culturally isolated communities. The goal is to complete 1,000 libraries across India by December 2020.
Through these libraries, the objectives is to:
• Cultivate a reading culture
• Enhance capacity building
• Promote digital literacy
• Create awareness about various government schemes
• Empower women and youth
• Offer career counselling
• Facilitate cultural exchange

During specific weekends, Sarvahitey's volunteers gather at predetermined spots, don their gloves, grab their brooms, and initiate the task of cleaning the capital city and its nearby regions. Alongside the sweeping volunteers, others carry garbage bags, collecting discarded wrappers, cigarette butts, plastic bottles, and any other litter that detracts from the city's beauty.
Sarvahitey has organized numerous cleanliness drives across Delhi/NCR, establishing it as an ongoing project. These initiatives are primarily conducted in the winter months and concentrated in densely populated areas to engage the largest possible audience and create heightened awareness. Initially centered in Delhi-NCR, the project has expanded to our libraries in Bathad, Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), and Nuh, Mewat (Haryana), where it is now a regular event.
