INTRODUCTION OF OUR ORGANISATION: Its beginning was made by respected Shri Ballubhai Desai who was an active member of Satya Sai Seva Samiti and w Read moreho recognized the need of readers, audio cassettes, etc. felt by blind college students. It was a challenge and Shri Ballubhai accepted to meet the demand. He has been active in the field for last ten years or more . Shri Kantibhai who received education and benefited from this charitable service has joined this noble mission with zeal. He has taken over from Shri Ballubhai who has got 5000 cassettes made for the blind, but on account of his old age was unable to continue to serve and mange the upkeep of the cassettes, which work would otherwise be done by some registered organization. So Shri Kantibhai offered his services for the same. Shri Kantibhai himself is also one who has lost his eyesight. He came to Amdavad for studies from a village and has been devoted to serve the blind students. He has his own experience of the difficulties faced by blind young boys and girls (brothers-sisters) who come for studies. He felt inspired and wanted to help others so that they could be spared from the troubles faced by himself. He had realized that education alone gave one self respect and honor and status in society as he had himself benefited from studying in schools and colleges run by society as a result of which he determined to establish an organisation offering facilities and living accommodation to the blind students who come to study here as well as other employed blind people and that institution in our “NAVJYOT ANDHJAN MANDAL” We wish to provide full help to all working & student blind men from stay to finding jobs and being happy in what they do. We also wish to help all blind students with audio book help as well as well providing free stay if needed. For future we have vision : To have our own building,Old Age Home for the blind,Working and Student Blind Women Hostel Activities: Blind Students MP3 Library: Any blind student of Gujarat University, Saurastra University studying in BA, MA, B Ed can avail our audio books library by becoming a member. Blind Students Writer Help: A lot of blind students from in Gujarat come to Ahmadabad for giving exams. All such students appearing for the exams in school as well in college needs to make their own arrangement for the writers. We provide free service for helping such students by providing free writers. This service is voluntary and we are always ready to help with writers for professional exams too. Advance information is required to make suitable arrangements. Please call on Kantibhai for all help. Blind Working People Hostel: We provide stay and food for blind working people. The facility is limited, so request to any one needing the facility to contact us for more details. The hostels provide 2 time food, and good place to stay. Blind Students Information Center: We maintain a lot of details of reservations, facilities given to blind students and working people as well as we keep updating all information from taxes to rights of blind men and women. Please contact us for more information. We have recently started the following activities: 1. First of all, preparing authentic Braille editions of college textbooks not converted so far, in the form of MP3- CDs and distributing them to the students. 2. Providing services of “writers” for examination, to help them to face the tough situation in the exam hall and to boost their morale. 3. We also provide guidance that is very necessary regarding special scholar ships available for higher studies and of schools and colleges offering various subjects and in making the right choices regarding their subjects of study., the choice of institutions where to study and so on. 4. We also make available to students circulars and offer letters, etc. published by the State and Central Gove. Meant especially for the blind. 5. We also provide essential information regarding availability of jobs services, trade or professional requirements in industry, for qualified persons to help them settle in life. 6. We have also begun providing hostel facilities to help blind students as well as other employed blind people, coming from mofusil areas, so that they can study and also work, if possible by staying comfortably and safely in Amdavad. ( It becomes almost a blessing.) For the present, we can accommodate up to 100 blind individuals only. We have taken on rent a building in Paldi area where proper facilities for residence and meals are available. Our great poet Narasinh Mehta has sung: “O hari, You are the Only one in the whole universe who is visible infinitely in diverse forms” Blindness is also one form of Godliness or God. To help in overcoming the miseries caused by such a natural (God Given) defect we have begun as a part of activity to our best capacity, this “JANAN YAJNA” . We appeal to all of you and we hope that in order to extend our facilities to more students as well as to others servicing outside, and to improve our organisation, all of you will give us kind donations and best possible cooperation by charity to enable us to expedite our mission. The great genius Louis Brialle’s invention of the Braille Script for the blind has opened a new direction of development for the blind. Who are big section of the society who were neglected and ignored for centuries because of superstitious belief in natures curse to men. Blindness comes with birth in most cases, but other factors also can cause blindness which include lack of timely treatment old beliefs or superstition and economic conditions. Because of blindness their eyes also look rather ugly or awkward. But there are some cases where it becomes difficult to see that the person is blind. To deal with such cases humanist like “Louis Braille”, “Madame Curie” and the rich and the elite among citizen set out to work to help the blind and Many institutions and eminent individuals all over the world are now actively servicing the blind people. Of these there is one in Amdavad called “Navjyot Andhjan Mandal” meant for only women studying for higher education. For men who are blind and students studying for higher education, there is hostel in Amdavad. In Amdavad proper (city) institutions for the blind receiving governments grants offer facilities to students studying up to standard XII. But there are no such facilities available for those studying in colleges. Therefore our organisation has been set up to provide proper facilities to college students to stay, study and have food etc. As well as to the blind people with limited income. Our main objective is to provide them with enough residential facilities and other things necessary for higher education. ACTIVITIES OF INSTITUION: 1. We provide Residential Facility and two time food to blind people who come to Amdavad from villages for job and charge Rs. 1000 only per month. 2. For college students books are not available in Braille lipi so we provide audio CD to students all over Gujarat. 3. We provide “writer” facility to blind students appearing in exams who come from outside Amdavad and Amdavad students free of charge. Three years ago we provided 40 writers, two years ago 150 writers and last year we provided 400 writers.
