CFSD supports an integrated development approach for the improvement of living conditions in the slums by a convergence of various local initiatives, Read morenational and regional programs in the fields of an urban environment, social and technical infrastructure, poverty alleviation, education, and health. We strongly believe that for the success of any government programs for the urban poor, involving slum communities, especially women, in the planning and implementation of sustainable slum improvement measures is a must. For a sustainable urban development concept, CFSD is committed to facilitating a participatory approach encompassing slum dwellers, govt. organizations, NGO`s and the private sector.
Action
CFSD works on issues of land rights for urban slum dwellers, environmental initiatives like solid waste management and air pollution awareness, and integrating waste pickers into municipal waste management systems.

CFSD has facilitated 10,000 land titles (pattas) for slum dwellers in Nagpur city and enumerated waste pickers to provide them with ID cards from urban local bodies.

The Pattawatap program
StateCFSD's program in Maharashtra focuses on securing land rights for slum dwellers who have encroached on government lands. By enabling them to obtain "Pattas," it provides formal recognition of land ownership. This initiative empowers communities to invest in resilient housing, reduces the risk of displacement, and ensures their inclusion in compensation and disaster recovery efforts, aligning with climate adaptation goals.
