The establishment of the hospital dates back to 1 Read more974 when it was founded by Late Dr.P.N.Mahendra with a vision to provide comprehensive eye care to all especially the poor and needy patients who could not be reached. Since its inception the hospital has served the masses with utmost devotion and dedication.The hospital is locatied in the heart of the city kanpur at swaroop nagar. It has two satellite units and a vision centre in rural areas of Northern India. The hospital runs regular eye relief camps in the outskirts of kanpur and adjoining areas where the patients are screened ,examined and brought to the base hospital for their surgeries. At the hospital the patients are given lodging and meals free of charge.After their surgery they are given post operative medication and are again dropped to their respective places. The whole cost of this is borne by the hospital itself. Today the third generation of doctors has taken over with a zeal to fulfill late Dr.P.N. Mahendra’s dream. The hospital has also been privileged to get associated and work with various NGOs like ORBIS ,Sightsavers,Vision foundation, OEU, Rotary Club of Kanpur,lions Club,Shramik Bharti, Ayusman Bharat etc. As technology upgrades ,machines and equipment get costlier, medical treatment becomes a far fetched dream for those who are daily wagers and barely strive for existence.  We feel if we can make a difference in their lives by providing comprehensive eye care and give them the gift of sight we will be able to serve the community at large.

Established in 1943 in Khairabad, expanded to Kanpur in 1975, and renamed as Dr. P.N. Mahendra Eye Foundation, now offering advanced eye care treatments with latest technology at par with international standards.
