Founded on 27 June 2014, CHD Group works in the field of publ Read moreic health, disaster management,[1] primary healthcare,[2] road safety, women's health, skill development, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, implementing CSR programmes for corporate companies and livelihood for rural communities and partners with other Indian and foreign organisations, government ministries, diplomatic missions, United Nations agencies for capacity development, supportive supervision, technical support, CSR programme implementation and strengthening public health systems.[3][4][5][6] The organization received a Special Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2021 and was granted observership status to UNFCCC in 2022[11] and has impacted in total over 4 million lives in India alone in urban and rural areas.[12][13] CHD Group was founded in 2014 by Dr. Edmond Fernandes, a Community Health Physician. He started the organization based on his calling to leave the world better than how he found it. The originating name was Center for Health and Development ( CHD) however, in the years since, it has come to be popularly known across the country and around the world as CHD Group. CHD Group started with one man’s vision; today it has become sort of an infectious movement pulling together people from across ranks and files, those with heart in humanity and mind in development. It is among the rare global institutions to have its Headquarters in a non-metro city based in Mangalore, Karnataka in India but serving humanity across countries. The spirit that propels this work forward is the mission to create a world where the young and the young at heart will receive accessible and affordable healthcare in our lifetime. Sustainable Development Goals means nothing to the last mile person on the ground. That is where CHD Group shadows and delivers, decides and champions their cause, making it our own. With new innovative models of service and strategic intelligence, CHD Group collaborates with visionary companies, Governments and civil society to realize the dream of a billion beats planet.
Action
CHD Group implements programs in nutrition and child development, maternal health, mental health, adolescent health, primary care, road safety, school health services, WASH initiatives, occupational health, farmers health and also mobile medical units built on unique models of care, establishes primary healthcare centers and community hospitals, and focuses on non-communicable disease clinics and infectious diseases. The organisation advocated for a more robust public health bill in 2017,[7] and also released the Karnataka Mental Health Report that gave the landscape of mental health situation in the state.[8] During the COVID-19 pandemic, the NGO supported over 50,000 farmers by providing PPE in partnership with Corteva agriscience[9] and also donated 50 oxygen concentrators to BBMP Hospitals by importing them from China totally impacting over 4,56,000 in the middle of a lockdown alone.[10] more available on : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHD_Group
