  • Since

    2002

Rajib and Srabani, seeking a more tailored learning environment for their daughter who faced the challenges of Down's syndrome, established SRISTI in Read more1998. Recognizing the limitations of regular schools for special children, they aimed to create a conducive and playful atmosphere to facilitate learning and the development of fundamental skills. In 2002, the institution evolved into the Morning Glory Integrated School, officially registered as a 'Not for Profit' organization under the Persons with Disability Act and National Trust Act. Presently, the school supports 75 students, predominantly from low-income families, with training offered at no cost. The institution operates as a day-care training center for children dealing with mental challenges, autism, or Cerebral palsy. Morning Glory Integrated School focuses on various skill sets for its students, including functional academics, life skills, social skills, vocational training (such as stitching and dance), speech therapy, and physiotherapy. The emphasis on inclusion is evident through awareness camps, identification and assessment programs, training initiatives for families, and parental counselling. The primary objectives of the school encompass organizing, promoting, and empowering individuals born with disabilities, educating and sensitizing those with disabilities and their families, advocating for necessary policy changes to support the disabled, equipping individuals with disabilities to become productive citizens, and fostering interaction with the community. By addressing the needs of children with disabilities, often marginalized and excluded, the institution strives to create a more inclusive and supportive society.
