Vandhe Bharatham's team was determined to address challenges, particularly those concerning fruits and vegetables produced by farmers. It formulated the slogan "a mouthful of rice-roti-dal and a stomach-full of fruits and greens," and to realize this vision, it approached the Government.
A significant quantity of pineapples, cultivated by farmers in Banavasi, Sirsi, Shimoga, and surrounding areas, was procured. Trucks laden with tons of pineapples and other fruits and vegetables made their way to Lalbagh, marking a substantial undertaking.
To reach apartments and townships in Bangalore city, it engaged 20 mini trucks. The support and cooperation from HOPCOMS, the Horticulture Department, and the Horticulture Minister were pivotal. With the dedicated efforts of the Vandhe Bharatham team, all the fruits were sold at reasonable prices, a commendable move that effectively disrupted the influence of middlemen who were extracting a significant portion of profits in the marketing chain.
