Chetanalaya works in the slum settlements of Delhi and the rural villages in Haryana with a mission to empower underprivileged, marginalized and vulne Read morerable sections of society towards self-reliance and human dignity. Chetanalaya reaches out to directly more than a lakh people through its twelve thematic interventions - promotion of education, protection of child rights, youth & skill development, gender mainstreaming, promotion of rights of domestic workers & prevention of human trafficking, access to microfinance for sustainable livelihood, community healthcare, rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and the elderly, environment protection, rural resource management, low-cost housing and intervention in reintegration. Chetanalaya’s developmental interventions have been supported by Governments and other national and international aid agencies and the work has been duly acknowledged by all the partners.

    Chetanalaya is dedicated to fostering education within urban slum communities, boasting 12 well-established remedial education centers, 2 childcare facilities, 8 preschools, 1 library, and 1 spoken English class. Annually, over 2500 children benefit from Chetanalaya's institutional support.

    In addition to these vital resources, Chetanalaya conducts awareness campaigns, development programs, and rallies to advocate for education. Sporting and cultural events are also organized to enhance children's physical, mental, and social capabilities. Chetanalaya's educational interventions not only complement formal schooling but also address functional, academic, cognitive, behavioral, and social skills crucial for accessing quality education.

Milestones & Track Record

Chetanalaya was registered as a social service society in 1994 and has grown to become one of the largest grassroots organizations in India, winning several awards for its work.
