Unicorpus Health Foundation (UHF- www.unicorpus.org) is a not-for-profit health care organization established in 2015 in Hyderabad. UHF was started b Read morey a group of 9 health care professionals who are keen on providing affordable ethical, evidence-based, compassionate, and holistic medical care in Hyderabad. They were propelled by the vision of Dr. Ida Scudder the founder of Christian Medical College, Vellore. Though scattered professionally in different parts of the globe, in the year 2013, their paths converged in Hyderabad. Three workshops for public consultations and multiple free health camps were organized to assess the community's needs. Soon it was apparent that geriatric services were much needed in the community. In 2015, a senior citizen polyclinic was established in a rented facility in Secunderabad. This clinic has over 40 visiting consultants, many of whom have volunteered their services. Specialists included Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Dental, Family Practice, Obstetrics and Gynecology, neurology, physiotherapy, and other specialties. This clinic soon was overcrowded and hence was shifted to the current YMCA campus in 2021. This central locality is well connected to all parts of Hyderabad and the surrounding villages.  Soon, we realized that there is a need for in-patient services and we leased a 20 bedded hospital at Word and Deed campus in sub-urban Hyderabad. We renovated the facility and formally started inpatient services for all patients in January 2020. During the pandemic, we had to briefly close the center but soon scaled up many elective surgical procedures. We also successfully run the COVID home isolation program. Unicorpus Health Foundation fundraising as a response to the second wave of COVID -19 pandemic which is claiming many lives in the city of Hyderabad. Please do help us set up an inpatient facility for COVID-19 affected patients and to provide timely treatment and save the lives of the underprivileged.
