About

Savithri Devi Memorial Charitable Trust was established in 2009 in memory of Late Mrs Savithri Devi who was the wife of a renowned freedom fighte Read morer and Ex-INA soldier Shri. U Sunder Rao.  The objective of the trust is to empower the poor and needy to be self-reliant and make a decent living for them. Also, the trust aims to provide medical assistance to patients who are underprivileged. Our mission is to empower deprived people to avail healthcare facilities and make a difference in their lives by providing healthier livelihood. Few of our initiatives: Cancer Care today is a vital aspect of healthcare. However, the rising cost of healthcare and increasing sophistication of the healthcare industry has made it difficult for medical care facilities to be universally available at affordable costs. Most of the patients who belong to the low socioeconomic strata find it impossible to meet the financial demands of healthcare. Treatment in their cases not only bears the costs of healthcare for the individual but also other hidden costs to the family, such as travel to the city, accommodation expenses and several other intangible problems, which further add to the mental and economic burden. It is with this background that SDMC Trust set up the Cancer Care Program to take cancer care to the periphery of the country. Presently, this outreach initiative has targeted rural areas in the vicinity of smaller towns. As part of the program, we identify patients from poor socio-economic backgrounds and help them with their cancer care by providing the required financial support from our end. It is here that we seek funds from philanthropists and organizations that are willing to be part of this cause and support us in helping these patients through their rehabilitation. Covid Consultative Group (CCG) was formed to assist the Karnataka Government, combat the pandemic with the members drawn from various sectors to come together and tackle all challenges. This group is patronized by Justice M N Venkatachalaiah, Former Chief Justice of India to assist, augment and accelerate the herculean efforts being carried out by the State Government under the 5T principle – Trace, Test, Treat, Teamwork, Tracking. Testing Kits (COVID-19) were sponsored, which reached out to nearly 5000 patients Plasma Trials were initiated in collaboration with Healthcare Global Hospital (HCG), Bengaluru, with a team of volunteers coordinating across the country. Customized Special Initiatives providing need-based services, as per the request of the donors. The tagline of our Trust is Love. Serve. Transform , where we believe that Service without Love is incomplete and when Love is infused with Service, it not only Transforms the recipient but also the one performing the service.
