Nayonika Eye Care Charitable Trust is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in India under the Trust Act. It was set up in 2012 by Mr Prash Read moreant S B, an MBA from Central Michigan University, USA and Dr. Surekha P, an eye surgeon in Ramamurthy Nagar, on the outskirts or Bengaluru in Karnataka, India. The idea and the need for a charitable trust was born out of the necessity to provide vision to all sections of the rural and urban slum population that are unable to access primary eye care. The Nayonika Eye Care Charitable Trust has made a visible difference to over 14,19,000 patients by carrying out over 42,000 free cataract surgeries and over 8000 costless diabetic retinopathy screenings, and distributing of over 91,000 costless spectacles across India.  With Covid crises since 2020 march, NECT been complementing supreme work of Health department with support of over 200,000 masks, over 2200 beds , ICU Units setup, 50 Oxygen concentrators, 10,000 Face shields, Gloves and support of over 50,000 meals to migrant workers.

NAYONIKA MAKALA NETRA - This project has served 7.5 lakhs children till date in the districts of Bellary, Koppal, Bidar and Bangalore with Distribution of 21,491 Free Spectacles to the needy children. NAYONIKA VISION WALL - With installations in over 8000 government schools throughout the state of Karnataka and more than 2800 primary health centers and government hospitals, Nayonika Vision Wall has made a significant impact.

  • Community Outreach - Free Eye Checkup Camps

    These camps aim to raise awareness within the local community about eye care and different eye conditions. In pursuit of this objective, numerous comprehensive eye care programs are conducted, including:

  • Nayonika Eye Mobile Van

    The van will generate widespread awareness about eye health in various communities, offering Free Screening, Free Diabetic Retinopathy, and Free Cataract Surgeries. The targeted communities include:
    • Street vendors
    • Transgenders
    • Handicapped individuals
    • Rag pickers
    • Garment factory workers
    • BBMP city cleaners

  • Nayonika Vision Wall - Self-Eye Screening Tool

    The Nayonika Vision Wall, introduced in 2017 in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka's Health Department, serves as a self-eye screening tool. The tool provides instructions in both English and Kannada. With installations in over 8000 government schools throughout the state of Karnataka and more than 2800 primary health centers and government hospitals, Nayonika Vision Wall has made a significant impact. Plans are underway to translate the Nayonika Vision Wall into other languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Urdu, for installation across India.

  • Nayonika Makala Netra

    Nayonika Makala Netra is an initiative that complements the existing government program, aiming to reduce visual impairment and enhance vision in government and aided school children. Nayonika Makala Netra represents a unique collaborative model developed by Nayonika Eye Care Charitable Trust, where project Manpower is supported by the Government of Karnataka, the initiative is designed and managed by Nayonika Eye Care Charitable Trust, and spectacles are donated by the Essilor Vision Foundation.

  • Nayana Seva – Avoidable Blindness Free Bellary District Project

    Program Highlights
    • Comprehensive door-to-door screening for every resident, addressing any eye problems.
    • Coverage of the entire population of 30 lakhs.
    • Providing free access to eye screening for refractive errors, cataract identification, and other eye-related issues.
    • Distribution of free spectacles on a specified date.
    • Surgeries conducted in government hospitals.
    • Screening of the entire constituency with every home receiving a screening certificate, declaring it "AVOIDABLE BLINDNESS FREE."
    • Installation of Nayonika Vision Walls in every school.
    • Creation of widespread awareness about eye health.
    • Post-supervision to ensure the program's sustainability.
    • Conducting follow-ups for the ongoing success of the program.
