Programs

  • Kathakar - International Storytellers Festival

    The festival, held annually in Delhi since 2011, aims to preserve and promote the ancient art of storytelling, providing a platform for storytellers from India and abroad. It addresses the decline of storytelling in India, working to create a performance space and cultivate a new audience. The event, held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts since 2013, includes evening sessions for diverse audiences, morning sessions for school students, and features panel discussions and workshops for storytellers. Additionally, a segment of the festival is hosted in various schools across Delhi and Uttarakhand.

  • Kitabnama

    The festival actively engages with youth to maintain their interest in literature and enhance thinking skills through workshops, discussions, debates, and interactions with writers. Hosted in colleges across Delhi and Dehra Dun, the section offers volunteering opportunities for students at various festival sections. Workshops on cultural heritage, photography, and broader topics like cultural understanding are conducted nationally for young adults and youth. The initiative aims to provide a holistic experience beyond literature, fostering a multifaceted engagement with cultural and intellectual pursuits.

  • Ghummakkad Narain - The Travelling Children’s Literature Festival

    It is an innovative initiative by NGOs Nivesh and Himalayan Heritage Art and Cultural Hub. Dedicated to promoting reading and literature appreciation in both private and government schools in English and Hindi, the festival honors the memory of writer Thakur Vishva Narain Singh. In collaboration with educational entities and publishers like Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, National Book Trust, Penguin, and others, the festival aims to instill a love for literature. Partnerships with cultural institutions such as the French Embassy, Italian Cultural Centre, British Council, among others, contribute to the festival's diverse engagement.
