  • Menstrual hygiene awareness

    Andhra Pradesh

A significant majority of Indian women resort to using old cloth strips or leaves during their menstrual cycle due to the unavailability of sanitary napkins. This practice can lead to vaginal irritation, infections, and potential health risks, particularly for women who lack access to proper feminine hygiene products.
Recognizing this urgent need, OYSC took initiative to raise awareness about reproductive health and enhance the affordability of sanitary napkins for economically disadvantaged women in rural India. Collaborating with the NGO, Sujana Chowdhary Charitable Trust, OYSC facilitated the production of affordable sanitary napkins, priced at 4 INR each. These sanitary napkins are made accessible to women across all economic backgrounds.
Furthermore, OYSC actively engaged in educating women about their menstrual cycles and imparting hygienic practices to safeguard personal health.

  • Independence Day celebrations

    District

    Guntur

    States

    Andhra Pradesh

Independence Day brings sheer delight to schoolchildren, as they eagerly anticipate a day filled with festivities. The joy of attending school on this occasion is shared through celebrations featuring chocolates, candies, biscuits, dances, dramas, and various other forms of entertainment.
However, amidst the revelry, there lies a consideration for the children in the slums who are unable to afford attending school. OYSC firmly believes that everyone, regardless of their status, income, or background, should partake in the jubilation of commemorating our nation's freedom.
OYSC volunteers dedicate this day to spending time with the less fortunate community, aiming to spread happiness, joy, and a sense of unity among these children who might not have access to formal education. Witnessing the radiant smiles on these children's faces is a testament to the impact of such efforts.
