The Rotary Club of Purulia was admitted to the membership of the Rotary International on the 8th of June 1968. The Club was established with 22 Rota Read morerians. Purulia Rotary Club like all other Rotary Clubs of the world is a service-oriented Club and it was established in a poor District like Purulia mainly with the idea of rendering service to the community of this area. The area in which Purulia Rotary Club is situated and/or located is inhabited by people belonging mainly to the poor, backward, unsophisticated and downtrodden people. On an analysis of the activities of the Club since its inception it will be found that community service got top priority from the members of the Club. The Rotary Club of Purulia Service Centre is a hospital project that serves the community. Later on, the club members formed the Trust named ROTARY CLUB OF PURULIA CHARITABLE TRUST in the year 2002. The trust manages the service activities taken up by the club members.
