    2020

Anora Charitable Foundation, is an NGO formed with an intent to help the poor and marginalized towards their health and food needs. Despite India’s ec Read moreonomic growth over the past several decades, its food/health outcomes still fare poorly. Large inequities in health and access to health services continue to persist and have even widened across states, between rural and urban areas and between rich and poor communities. Not unexpectedly, 5.5 Crore Indians are pushed into poverty each year due to catastrophic health costs and food needs. Reach Lives an initiative of Anora Charitable Foundation, is the result of a group of like minded doctors, businesspersons and philanthropists resolving to work together to reduce disparities in healthcare. Our intent has been to reach the most at-risk communities and help them overcome barriers and access healthcare/nutrition routinely in a timely and cost-effective manner. The ultimate goal has been to empower marginalized communities to create a better world. The primary modalities we have used to meet our goal has been organizing medical camps and nutritional outreaches. The communities that we have worked with include children in foster/care homes, elderly in old-age homes, slum dwellers, trans-persons and migrants living in temporary settlements. The second wave of COVID-19 brought with it many unexpected challenges including that of children of COVID-19 positive individuals being abandoned temporarily or permanently. These children are often very young and don't even understand the concept of death - it's finality or irreversible nature. However, they're aware of the loss. Some cry and throw tantrums and others show regressive behaviour. Either way they require our help. In partnership with Dream India Network (DIN), an organization that runs several foster homes across Karnataka and has already taken 85+ COVID-affected-children under its wing, Reach Lives is working to help these children in their time of need. Specifically, we are working to establish inclusive and comfortable homes for 24 (as of now) of these children with special needs. The current set up of homes are not equipped to deal with their special needs and therefore, the team is working to rehabilitate them in special homes in Indiranagar, Whitefield and other areas in Bangalore. As we continue with our efforts to rehabilitate these children, we require assistance in procuring various facilities and setting up the homes. This includes essentials like cots, mattresses, linen, clothes, water supply and most importantly take care of their health, food and educational needs. Please consider lending assistance to these children, they have no one else.
