Established under the Indian Charitable Trust Act in April 2010, Vikasaarth operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women, particularly those from impoverished backgrounds, to address the challenges affecting their living standards and those of children in Bihar. Their collective expertise spans program conceptualization, social mobilization, livelihood promotion, research, capacity building, and more. Vikasaarth collaborates with government and non-governmental development agencies, focusing on women and child health, primary education, livelihood promotion, and humanitarian aid, with an emphasis on underserved areas. Operating primarily in Vaishali, Saran, Gaya, and Patna districts of Bihar, Vikasaarth engages in social mobilization and capacity building for women's groups, promoting livelihoods and advocating for improved healthcare. Additionally, it serves as a development support organization, offering technical and managerial assistance to initiatives focused on women and child development, including reproductive and child health, HIV/AIDS prevention, girls' education, and livelihood enhancement. Registered as a charitable trust and authorized to receive foreign contributions, Vikasaarth is committed to fostering positive change and sustainable development in Bihar.

Rainbow Home Program
Gharaunda Vikasaarth Rainbow Home, in collaboration with Rainbow Home India (RHI) Program, offers non-custodial residential care for children formerly living on the streets, with a focus on inclusion and integration. Currently nurturing 50 such children in Patna, the organization aims to extend its reach to more street children, aiming to restore their childhood and foster their development into responsible citizens. The intervention prioritizes the protection, education, and empowerment of disadvantaged children, encompassing those living on streets, orphaned or abandoned, violence-affected, working, from farmer suicide families, or offspring of sex workers. Through safe and nurturing residential care environments, the program endeavors to ensure these children access their rights and grow into happy, responsible individuals.

Access to Justice
In its commitment to safeguarding the fundamental rights of children in the state, Vikasaarth Trust has forged a partnership with the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (US) for its Access to Justice program. This collaborative initiative is geared towards addressing critical issues such as child marriage, child sexual abuse, and trafficking for labor and sexual exploitation. The program operates by bolstering government mechanisms and fostering community involvement to prevent and eradicate these harmful practices. Through advocacy, support, and engagement at both governmental and grassroots levels, Vikasaarth Trust endeavors to create a safer and more secure environment for children, ensuring their protection and well-being.
