Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) runs the "Hate Hatao: Nationwide" initiative with the objective of identifying instances of hate speech, particularly targeting religious minorities, Dalits, Adivasis, women, children, and LGBTQIA+ individuals, whether it comes from politicians, social media trolls, or news broadcasters/publications. It takes action by filing over 200 petitions with various relevant authorities, including the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Broadcasting and Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA), National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), National Commission for Women (NCW), and platforms like Facebook and Twitter. This effort is aimed at combatting hate speech and ensuring the protection of marginalized communities in India.

CJP collaborates with the All India Union of Forest Working People (AIUFWP) to empower Adivasis, forest-dwellers, and forest workers in defending their rights under the Forest Rights Act 2006. This includes supporting them in filing Community Forest Rights claims, and it has successfully trained over 7,000 individuals in 60 villages. CJP takes action by moving authorities like the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to seek justice for those harassed by the Forest Department or local police. It has filed over 150 complaints against false and malicious prosecutions of Adivasi human rights defenders and has taken legal action to secure the release of Forest Rights Defenders detained on false charges. Additionally, CJP mentors Adivasi women to take on leadership roles in grassroots movements, ensuring the protection and empowerment of marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Through Khoj, it teaches students critical thinking, encouraging them to explore beyond their academic syllabus and create an inclusive and open learning environment in the classroom. The programme places a strong emphasis on promoting pluralism and inclusion. To date, Khoj has positively impacted 56,000 students across more than 850 schools, and it has provided training to 1,300 teachers, fostering a culture of understanding and unity among the younger generation.

Additionally, it conducts teacher training workshops focusing on Constitutional values, pluralism, history, and social sciences. Notably, CJP's series of workshops on How to Spot and Stop Fake News, held in various locations, including Chennai, Mangalore, Mumbai, and Varanasi, has been instrumental in exposing misinformation. In one instance in February 2018, right-wing extremists opposed the workshop in Varanasi, even threatening CJP and surrounding its secretary, Teesta Setalvad. Despite these challenges, the workshop continued at an alternate venue, furthering CJP's commitment to countering misinformation.
