In 2014-2015, MSJVS played a crucial role in counseling and rehabilitating women prisoners incarcerated in Mandal Kara Chas, Bokaro, Jharkhand, under the FCC scheme of the Central State Social Welfare Board, New Delhi. The aim was to instill confidence and hope in these women, facilitating their reintegration into a peaceful and prosperous life. MSJVS provided free counseling and vocational training in income-generating activities such as bindi making, artificial flower crafting, tailoring, knitting, jute work, and candle making to 150 women inmates. Furthermore, MSJVS acted as a bridge between the jail administration and prisoners, assisting 32 women prisoners in securing early release. Additionally, six cases of atrocities against women inmates were referred to the State Women Commission, Ranchi, to provide better help and support to the victims.

Awareness & Counselling on HIV/AIDS

In response to the increasing trend of HIV/AIDS in India, particularly in Jharkhand, MSJVS has been actively providing awareness and counseling services. This critical issue has evolved from an urban concern to a potential rural epidemic, affecting women and youth in particular. In Bokaro district, at Chas and Chandan Kyari blocks, MSJVS offers regular counseling services to raise awareness and educate the community about HIV/AIDS. Experienced counselors have been engaged to provide guidance, and various awareness methods, such as wall writings, pamphlet distribution, posters, and meetings, have been effectively utilised at regular intervals. The community has been encouraged to use condoms. Through these efforts, MSJVS has successfully reached approximately 1,000 individuals, contributing to increased awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHG)

MSJVS has actively promoted the formation of SHGs to empower women to assert their rights and achieve financial independence through programs like SGSY. Since 2008, MSJVS has been dedicated to motivating impoverished women in 15 villages of Chas block and 10 villages of Chandankyari block in Bokaro district to create SHGs for socioeconomic self-reliance. Resulting in formation of 40 SHGs, involving 435 women. Additionally, 18 group bank accounts have been established in SBI and Allahabad banks in Bokaro district.MSJVS has also provided capacity-building support to these SHGs, helping them manage internal and external group processes efficiently. With ongoing assistance and guidance, these SHGs are now well-organised and progressing toward improved livelihoods.MSJVS has expanded its efforts to form farmers' and disabled groups in Chas block, Bokaro district, with substantial community support. Five farmer groups and two disabled groups have been established.

Vocational Training Programme

Unemployment is common in Jharkhand, particularly among rural youth.These young individuals lack income-generating skills. To address this, MSJVS initiated a vocational training program for both boys and girls in Chas and Chandan Kyari blocks in Bokaro district. This program aims to equip them with skills in various income-oriented trades.Experienced trainers were hired to provide comprehensive training, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. Additionally, the trainees received knowledge on Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP) to empower them for potential self-employment. MSJVS is actively working to connect these trainees with opportunities for self-employment in their respective learned trades.

Blind school

"In India, there are 22 blind males and 28 blind females in every 100,000 population. Since 2009, “Sarswati Blind
Vidyalaya” a residential school established by MSJVS in Bokaro district in Jharkhand for
the visually challenged children is running for the betterment of the blind people. The school has 15 children who are provided with food,clothing & health care. Apart from education, they are also imparted vocational skills and life skills.

Disabled persons welfare programme

"MSJVS launched a program in the year 2009 for the people with disability with an aim to
integrate them into the mainstream of development. The team of MSJVS identifies them and
assists them to get certificates and other facilities from local administration. This program also continued in 2014-2015. During the year, 15 disabled people in different age groups were identified and supported by MSJVS. Information were disseminated among their parents
and the community on preventive techniques, early identification of disability, govt. policies
and programs through one to one counseling, meetings, camps and use of IEC materials."

Impact
Some of the impact of MSJVS are-1. Establishment of a creche center at the Zila Parishad premises in Chandan Kiyari, Bokaro district where 25 boys and girls are benefitting recieved grant-in-aid from the Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board as part of the Rajeev Gandhi National Creche Programt 2.150 women inmates recieved free counseling and vocational training for income-generating activities 3. 1,000 individuals benefitted from awareness generation on prrevention of HIV/AIDS. 4. 40 SHGs, involving 435 women have been formed.
