  • Livelihood Support Program

    The flagship initiative of Uravu Indigenous Science & Technology Study Centre is the Skill Development and Livelihood Support Program in Bamboo, which offers employment to over 100 rural women organized into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) or producer groups. These groups receive extensive support from Uravu and are further organised into clusters. Currently, Uravu supports 17 SHGs, with five of them operating from the organization's premises in Thrikaipetta, while others function as satellite units within a 30 km radius. The primary objectives of the program are to ensure regular employment and income for vulnerable groups and to provide production facilities with optimum quality. Uravu's Livelihood Support Program offers various levels of support, including raw materials, training, technical expertise, design assistance, marketing support, and space, allowing SHGs and producer groups to choose the most suitable forms of support to sustain their livelihoods.
