AWARE - Awareness for Wo+men to Advocate their Rights through Equality is a registered Chennai-based not-for-profit organization driven by the vision Read moreof a world where all children, women and marginalised groups exercise their rights through equality. We nurture this path by alleviating social injustice and creating awareness on key issues that disproportionately abuse, discriminate and violate the rights of anyone, anywhere.


Issue

Since 2012 following the infamous Nirbhaya incident that shook the conscience of the nation, we've been in the forefront fighting against gender-based and sexual violence undertaking several activities to sensitize the children, their families and all concerned adults and policy makers on this sensitive issue. We work on the issues of Child Sexual Abuse, Child Marriage, Sexual Harassment, Mental Health, Menstrual Health and Hygiene, Toxic Masculinity, Domestic Violence, Unhealthy and Toxic Relationships, Body Positivity, Peer Pressure, Adolescent Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Women Safety, Bystander Intervention, Cyber Safety


Action

We primarily run 6 projects enabling gender equality through awareness and education by promoting safety across different spaces from Schools, Colleges, Workplace, Communities and Online.

In the past 8 years, we have provided our comprehensive education modules on Child Safety, Gender Sensitization, Sexuality Education, Mental Health and Holistic Community Development to more than 65,000 persons across Tamil Nādu. We are slowly expanding to reach 100,000 children in next year.
