The Brave Souls Foundation, established as a Trust in July 2021, is dedicated to combating acid attacks and gender-based violence. It consists of a te Read moream of social activists, lawyers, researchers, and individuals committed to improving the lives of victims. Its primary focus is on preventing acid attacks, which it considers one of the most heinous crimes, especially against women. Drawing on extensive experience with victims, the foundation emphasizes the importance of prioritizing prevention and justice for victims of such violence. Through ongoing efforts such as counselling, medical care, legal education, and vocational training, it strives to support and empower survivors.

The foundation provides holistic support to acid attack survivors, including medical care, legal assistance, psychological therapy, education, and vocational training.
Cause Area
Impact
Within the last two years, the foundation has facilitated over 200 reconstructive surgeries for survivors, ensured compensation for more than 150 individuals affected by acid attacks, and pursued over 50 cases without a single acquittal of the perpetrators.

Apna Ghar
The Brave Souls Foundation's shelter home, "Apna Ghar," was inaugurated on 2nd October 2021, marking a significant milestone in providing a haven for acid attack survivors. With the support of the Hon'ble Chairperson of DCW, Ms. Swati Maliwal, the initiative aims to offer refuge to survivors who have been ostracized by their families. Through the dedication of its founder, Ms. Shaheen Malik, Apna Ghar has been established in Delhi and Kolkata, providing transitional accommodation along with essential provisions such as food and travel expenses for medical treatments.

Medical Intervention Programmes
The Brave Souls Foundation facilitates reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries for survivors of acid attacks. It ensures the availability of specialized burn units and care facilities in state hospitals and treatment centres, overseeing the coordination and monitoring to prevent any negligence during surgical interventions.
