    Description

    HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited runs a CSR initiative called the "Gaon Mera" programme, focused on enhancing education and sanitation in selected rural areas. Recognising the poor state of many government-run schools, which often lack basic amenities like clean water, toilets, and electricity, the organisation seeks to address these challenges. The "Gaon Mera" programme aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal of Education by reconstructing and upgrading the infrastructure of these schools. The newly built schools, adhering to Building as Learning Aids (BaLA) guidelines, provide a child-friendly environment with proper lighting, ventilation, and facilities such as benches, desks, libraries, and computer labs, thereby improving the quality of education in rural India.

    Description

    HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited responded to the COVID-19 crisis by supporting healthcare and essential services in various regions. It provided N95 respirators to Nair Hospital, operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and distributed cotton masks and sanitizers to the Mumbai Police. The organisation also supplied ventilators to hospitals in Delhi and Gurgaon. Additionally, it distributed ration kits to 1,000 underprivileged families in Mumbai who were affected by the pandemic. Moreover, it provided washable cotton masks to 5,000 tribal children in the Rowmari area of Assam’s Chirang district.
