SEED was established in 1993 by young professionals who have a high level of commitment and experience in the fields of environment, education, health Read more and social development sectors.SEED has a strong commitment and institutional stability. The focus of the organisation remained on environmental conservation and natural resource management. Over a period of time, SEED got the recognition that this organization is community-centric. Several Grama Panchayats, people’s representatives and local institutions appreciated the role and contribution of SEED in the development of their villages. The founder and President of the organization Mr S.Naga Brahma Chary has 20 years of experience and gained knowledge in the implementation of various development projects like watershed management, tribal development, environmental conservation, education and health. He also conducted several training programmes for Institutional building for CBOs, promotion of organic farming, farmers clubs, FPO s, farmers field schools, and TOTs and prepared many training modules according to themes. SEED's mission is to address key areas through R&D, awareness activities, and technology integration for sustainable development in rural India. Their focus is on Green Energy Applications, Solar Food Processing, and tackling Environmental issues and climate change. SEED aims to empower women and youth by adopting and generating modern technologies. They promote solar drying and food processing technologies, emphasizing continuous innovation and sustainability in an environmentally friendly manner.

  • Solar food processing

    SEED has seamlessly integrated food processing technology with Solar Dryer technology and introduced it at a micro level in rural villages. This innovative approach serves a dual purpose, offering a solution for food preservation with an extended shelf life and creating employment opportunities in rural areas, all at zero energy cost. SEED has achieved remarkable success, developing about 70 commercial-scale products using fruits, vegetables, non-timber forest produce, spices, and herbs through the utilization of solar dryers. These solar-dried food products surpass conventionally dried ones in various aspects, exhibiting improved hygiene, no contamination, higher nutritive values, a longer shelf life, and an overall pleasing appearance.

    SEED excels in research and development (R&D), driven by a commitment to producing top-notch products utilizing solar food processing technology refined in its advanced laboratories. The labs boast state-of-the-art equipment and a team of highly skilled experts dedicated to pioneering breakthroughs in the realm of innovative food products, including nutraceuticals. It has comprehensive facilities for analyzing and testing physico-chemical properties, conducting shelf life studies, evaluating microbiological parameters, sensory attributes, and nutritional values.

    To resolve the problem of wastage & preservation of agri-horticultural produces, SEED designed and developed the much awarded Solar Cabinet Air Dryer. Solar dryers offer numerous advantages compared to traditional open drying methods. They provide a safe and hygienic environment for drying food products, free from contamination by insects and birds. The resulting products are clean and dust-free, ensuring a more uniform quality in terms of color, texture, and appearance. Solar dryers enable precise moisture control, optimizing the drying process and retaining essential nutrients like beta-carotene. The high-quality products generated by solar dryers are suitable for export and undergo rigorous quality and sensory tests. Additionally, these dried goods have an extended shelf life, meeting international standards for food processing.
