STEMSUP Education & Environment Foundation is a Section 8 non-profit organization committed to bridging the digital divide and advancing STEM educatio Read moren among marginalized and orphaned children in rural India. Founded with the vision of “Leaving No One Behind,” STEMSUP works at the intersection of education equity and environmental sustainability, empowering first-generation learners through digital literacy, climate education, and innovative community-based interventions.

Issue

India faces a stark digital and educational divide — with over 73% of youth lacking basic digital skills, and millions of rural children lacking access to quality STEM learning (Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey, 2024). Simultaneously, climate change education remains critically underrepresented. Marginalized groups — particularly orphaned and first-generation learners — are disproportionately affected.

Action

We establish digital learning centers in underserved regions, distribute foundational literacy and science learning kits, and conduct capacity-building sessions for students and educators. We also promote environmental awareness by integrating topics like climate change and microplastics into our grassroots STEM curriculum.

Impact

We are preparing to launch our pilot Project ThulirTech, We will measure and refine as we go, but early projections show: 3,000+ students gaining consistent access to digital learning 100+ mentors supporting growth over 12 months 60% increase in digital confidence and STEM understanding 25% rise in school retention among girls A stronger bridge between rural youth and future-ready skills

Programs

  • Project ThulirTech

Project ThulirTech will begin with two key components:

Thulir Labs: Small community learning spaces equipped with TV screens, tablets, offline educational content, and foundational STEM kits are designed especially for children who may have never accessed a computer or the Internet.

Thulir Guides: A group of dedicated mentors—college students, young professionals, and volunteers—will guide learners through digital basics, STEM subjects, and future career pathways while offering inspiration and support.
