Programs

  • Home Care Program for Advanced Life-Limiting Illnesses

This flagship program, one of the largest of its kind, began in 2008 with a single van and now operates 10 vans (8 adult and 2 pediatrics) across Hyderabad, making 40 home visits daily. The program provides comprehensive palliative care, including pain and symptom management, emotional, spiritual, and social support for patients with advanced, life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, kidney, heart, neurological, and liver diseases, dementia, muscular dystrophy, and stroke. It offers continuous, 24/7 home care, enrolling about 1000 new patients annually, ensuring personalized care in the comfort of their own homes.

  • Hospice Care for Terminal Cancer Patients

The 20-bed in-patient facility in Kukatpally provides compassionate care for terminal stage cancer patients, with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and support staff. Offering free treatment, medicines, and food for both patients and caregivers, the hospice aims to support those for whom no other treatment options are available. The facility also provides transportation for deceased patients to their homes. Annually, 900-1000 patients receive comprehensive care, including medical, nursing, and dietary support, delivered by a skilled team of 25 staff members.

  • Pediatric Palliative Care Program at Mandara Hospice

The Pediatric Palliative Care Program at MNJ Government Cancer Hospital and Niloufer Government Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive care for children with serious illnesses. A dedicated team of pediatric palliative care consultants, staff nurses, and social workers provides both curative and palliative treatments. For continuity of care, children are referred to pediatric home care vans or Mandara Hospice. Since its opening in May 2021, Mandara Hospice has supported families through the progression of the child’s illness, providing physical and emotional care, and ensuring children are surrounded by loved ones in their final moments, free from pain. Over 200 children have been cared for annually.
