The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) designs, coordinates, and implements diverse educational programs for schools and their stakeholders, reaching over 200,000 schools nationwide through its innovative "cluster approach."

Since 1985, when it initiated the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, CEE has placed schools and the education system at the core of its activities.

CEE's programs span both formal and non-formal education streams. Key initiatives include teacher training, developing Environmental Education (EE) materials, conducting school-level programs using various methodologies, collaborating with agencies for EE and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) efforts, and integrating environmental concepts into curricula. Additionally, CEE fosters experiential learning by providing hands-on, field-based opportunities through initiatives like eco-clubs, camping programs, and education in and around Protected Areas.

CEE conducts awareness, training, and capacity-building programs on various aspects of environmental management for diverse stakeholders, including industries, industrial associations, common facility operators (ETP, CETP, TSDF, CBMWIF, CHWIF, and E-waste), students and faculty from technical and research institutions, auditors, consultants, and NGOs.

Over the past three years, the group has organized nine programs, benefitting approximately 2,000 participants. Topics covered include environmental legislation and compliance, wastewater treatment (reduce, reuse, recycle, and ZLD), air quality management (Aerospectrum events in 2015, 2017, and 2019), and scientific solid/hazardous waste management. In collaboration with GPCB Gandhinagar and NEERI Nagpur, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to further these initiatives.
