THDC India Limited, formerly known as Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited, operates under the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC Read more ) and the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Established in July 1988, THDC was initially tasked with developing, operating, and maintaining the Tehri Hydro Power Complex and other hydroelectric projects. As a Mini Ratna Category-I Enterprise, THDC has expanded significantly over the years, now managing multiple projects across various states and in Bhutan. The company is also venturing into renewable energy generation. Currently, THDC oversees 16 projects spanning solar, hydro, wind, and thermal energy.

THDC Niramaya - Health and sanitation initiatives
Description* Allopathic Dispensary at Deengaon, Tehri - Located in one of the remotest areas of Tehri district, this dispensary serves a population of approximately 15,000 across 40 nearby villages. It is equipped with essential facilities, including an MBBS doctor, paramedical staff, and basic diagnostic tools such as X-ray, ECG, and minor OT services. It also provides on-call ambulance support and free medicines.
* Medical Health Infrastructure - To enhance public healthcare services, THDC has contributed to improving medical infrastructure by procuring and distributing advanced medical equipment. Notable contributions include:
A Zeiss Microscope Model: OPMI LUMERA 700 system for the new operation theatre at Vivekanand Netralaya Hospital, Dehradun.
Partial support for setting up an MRI unit at J. Watmull Global Hospital, Mount Abu, Rajasthan.
Financial support for delivering holistic health and wellness services through a mobile van in collaboration with AIIMS, Rishikesh.

THDC Jagriti - Education initiatives
DescriptionTHDC operates three schools to provide quality education: one in Rishikesh and two in Tehri district, located at Bhagirathipuram and Koteshwar. These schools offer education at minimal cost and extend additional support, including free uniforms, shoes, bags, books, stationery, and sweaters.

THDC Daksh - Livelihood generation and skill development initiatives
DescriptionTHDC provides various vocational training programs to empower youth from underprivileged sections. These programs include training in Hotel Management, ITI, Hospitality, Food Production, Fitter & Plumbing, Welding, Electrical & Electronics, Excavator Operation, AC & Refrigeration, and more. Motivational and skill development training sessions were organized for students and unemployed youth in rural areas to enhance their employability and confidence.

THDC Samarth - Women empowerment initiatives
DescriptionIn FY 2023-24, a total of 210 girls and women benefited from six tailoring/stitching centers and one beautician training center established in the districts of Tehri, Haridwar, and Uttarkashi. Additionally, to support and promote Mahila Mangal Dals in District Champawat, Uttarakhand, various items were distributed through the District Administration to facilitate community social and cultural events.

THDC Prakriti - Environment protection initiatives
DescriptionThe initiatives were undertaken with three primary objectives: Soil and Water Conservation, Green Energy Generation and Technology Promotion, and Environmental Protection and Promotion. Key water conservation measures included the construction of water harvesting tanks, LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) tanks, and Chal Khals in project-associated villages to support water conservation and rainwater harvesting. Additionally, 136 solar streetlights were installed across various locations in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. To promote the welfare of stray animals, THDC constructed two Gaushalas/Cattle Sheds in rural areas of Uttarakhand and the aspirational district of Singrauli.

DescriptionBy integrating art and culture into society, THDC aims to drive positive change, social inclusion, empowerment, innovation, and the conservation of cultural and natural heritage. In FY 2023-24, THDC contributed to the infrastructure development of Badrish Lake and Park at Badrinath and the construction of a Smart Hill Town Pilgrim Accommodation Block at Kedarnath.

THDC Krida – Sports Promotion Initiatives
DescriptionTHDC provided financial support to specially-abled women from Dehradun undergoing ski training to compete in the 20th Winter Deaf Olympics (Alpine Skiing) and to an aspiring female athlete from Chamoli for participation in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
THDC also hosted the Open National Canoe Sprint Senior Men & Women Championship and Qualifier for the 37th National Games (Goa 2023) at Tehri Lake.
