The United Nations-accredited Youth of India Foundation is one of the largest Youth-led Non-governmental Organizations in the nation, dedicated to Emp Read moreowering young minds and fostering sustainable development. Our journey began in 2015 when the Youth of Siliguri mobilized in response to the Nepal earthquake, launching the Pocket Money Campaign—a movement so impactful that it was recognized as one of the World’s Top 5 Campaigns by the United Nations General Assembly. Since then, we have evolved into a nationally and internationally recognized force for change, receiving accreditation from esteemed bodies such as the World Bank Y.S., COP27, G20, and ISRO Space Club, among others. Our initiatives span Renewable Energy, Women Empowerment, Rural Livelihood, Climate Action, and beyond, making a tangible impact on communities across India. Guided by our 3E Vision—Engage, Empower, and Evolve, we are committed to Engaging young minds in environmental stewardship, Empowering them through education and skill development, and Evolving India towards a sustainable 2047 through enhanced employability and innovation. With a network of 200,000+ changemakers, we drive youth-led solutions that contribute to India’s long-term development goals while aligning with global sustainability objectives. So, who are we? Issue
At Youth of India Foundation, we are dedicated to tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time, driving impact across multiple domains. Our work focuses on: 1. Renewable Energy & Climate Action Promoting Green Hydrogen and Solar Energy solutions to contribute to a low-carbon future. Advocating for renewable energy adoption through initiatives like Youth for Green Hydrogen and Solar Blazer. Supporting decarbonization efforts to combat climate change and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. 2. Rural Livelihood & Sustainability Encouraging eco-friendly and sustainable livelihood practices through projects like UnPlastic India and Eco-friendly & Sustainable Merchandise. Supporting waste reduction and plastic-free initiatives to promote circular economies in rural areas. Empowering local artisans and entrepreneurs by providing them with skills and market access. 3. Community Mobilization & Active Citizenship Engaging youth in social impact campaigns like The Pocket Money Campaign, Share One, Plant One, and Youth Ki Baat. Encouraging volunteerism and grassroots activism to foster community-driven solutions. Expanding impact beyond India, with mobilization initiatives in Africa, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal. 4. Education & Future Skills Development Skilling young people for future-ready employment opportunities by integrating sustainable practices with skill-based learning. Strengthening collaborations with 140+ educational institutions to enhance youth employability. Promoting environmental education to instill sustainable values from a young age. 5. Marginalized Communities & Social Equity Focusing on inclusive growth by prioritizing marginalized and underprivileged communities. Providing access to education, skill development, and sustainable livelihood options to uplift disadvantaged groups. Ensuring equal opportunities for youth from all backgrounds to engage in nation-building efforts. Through our Engage, Empower, and Evolve philosophy, we are shaping a sustainable and employable future for India's youth, ensuring they become leaders in environmental stewardship, social impact, and economic development.
