The Woman of the Elements Trust, based in New Delhi, is a dedicated organization committed to empowering women and children who have been victims of d Read moreomestic violence. Recognizing that many affected individuals feel voiceless and unable to seek help, the Trust's mission is to instill courage and ensure every woman and child can claim their inherent right to a violence-free home. To address the pervasive issue of domestic violence in India, where mental, emotional, and physical abuse are often normalized, the Trust offers free counseling and legal aid to those earning below ₹5,000 per month. Their services encompass filing protection orders and representing clients in court, with operations currently active in the Saket District Court. Beyond legal assistance, the Trust collaborates with organizations like the All-India Women’s Conference to implement skill development programs, aiming to make women financially self-sufficient. Additionally, they provide financial support for the education of children whose mothers have suffered domestic abuse. The foundation of the Trust is deeply personal, rooted in the experiences of its founder, Rashmi Anand. After enduring a decade-long abusive marriage, Anand left with her two young children, facing immense challenges. Her journey from trauma to empowerment fuels the Trust's mission to ensure no other family endures similar hardships. Anand's story has been widely recognized, leading to her receiving the Nari Shakti Puraskar, India's highest civilian award for women, and the Neerja Bhanot Award for courage.
