The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) is a unique joint initiative of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Read more Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Established with the vision to uplift and empower the marginalized communities of the North Eastern states of India, NERCORMP focuses on holistic rural development through inclusive, participatory, and sustainable approaches. The project aims to improve the livelihood systems of economically disadvantaged families by enhancing their access to resources, skills, and decision-making processes. It adopts a community-led development model that emphasizes self-reliance, capacity building, and institutional strengthening at the grassroots level. By fostering the formation of Natural Resource Management Groups (NaRMGs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs), NERCORMP ensures that development is driven by the very people it seeks to benefit. Currently operational in eight districts across four northeastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya — the project has made significant strides in promoting gender equity, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, micro-finance, and infrastructure development. It has empowered thousands of rural households to break the cycle of poverty and build resilient, self-sustaining communities.
