  • Women's Education and Empowerment

    Nirantar's Sahajani Shiksha Kendra (SSK), initiated in 2002, is a transformative literacy and education programme aimed at empowering rural women and adolescent girls in Uttar Pradesh, India. Targeting marginalized communities such as Dalits and Adivasis, SSK integrates literacy with real-life issues like health, gender, and employment rights. Through village-level centres, residential camps, and customized curricula, the programme has reached over 2,000 women, fostering critical thinking and leadership. SSK also trains local women as facilitators, ensuring community ownership and sustainability. By linking education to empowerment, SSK enables women to actively participate in societal transformation.

  • Young People’s Education

    Nirantar's Young People’s Education programme addresses the educational needs of adolescents aged 15–22, particularly girls from marginalized communities in urban resettlement areas. Initiatives like the Parvaaz Adolescent Centre for Education (PACE) in Delhi provide literacy and numeracy skills through a feminist curriculum that integrates gender and sexuality perspectives. The programme also emphasizes digital empowerment, offering training in information and communication technologies to young Muslim women in Lucknow. By combining community outreach, teacher training, and participatory learning methods, Nirantar fosters inclusive education and challenges societal norms, enabling youth to reclaim their right to learn and lead.
