Saturday Art Class is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to integrating visual arts and social-emotional learning (SEL) into India's educ Read moreation system. Founded in 2016 by Manasi Mehan and Chhavi Khandelwal, SArC began as a pilot project in a Grade 3 classroom of a local government school, aiming to create a safe space for children to express themselves through art. Recognizing the lack of resources and emphasis on SEL in many schools, SArC developed a curriculum that combines artistic expression with the development of essential life skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Their programs are designed to build capacity in educators and students through visual-arts integrated learning, strengthening creative and social-emotional development. Since its inception, SArC has impacted over 165,000 children and trained nearly 6,000 educators across 13 states in India. Their initiatives include Art-a-Day workshops, Art Labs for in-depth research, and the innovative Art Connect WhatsApp chatbot, which provides real-time support to educators.
