Voice of World is a distinguished non-profit social welfare organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged and differently-abled individuals sin Read morece its inception in 1992. Founded by the visionary Late Prabir Gupta, the organization began its journey from a modest rented house in North Kolkata, driven by a mission to provide education, literacy, and independence to the visually challenged. Over the past three decades, Voice of World has expanded its reach, establishing 25 centers across West Bengal, and additional centers in Delhi and Puri. The organization currently supports around 300 residential beneficiaries, offering comprehensive services tailored to individual needs. These services encompass educational programs from kindergarten to master's degrees, vocational training, and social rehabilitation, all aimed at mainstreaming differently-abled individuals into society. Voice of World also operates a Braille Press, producing educational materials to facilitate learning for visually impaired students. The organization's commitment to inclusivity extends to various cultural and sports activities, including participation in national blind football tournaments and adventure sports like rock climbing and trekking.

Programs

  • Empowering Education Through Inclusion and Accessibility

    This comprehensive educational initiative encompasses the management of diverse institutions, including a blind school, an inclusive school for mentally challenged and differently-abled children alongside marginalized students, a kindergarten English medium school, and a teacher training college. The program extends critical support services to visually challenged students by offering reader and writer assistance, Braille books, and assistive learning devices. With a strong focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the initiative ensures equitable learning opportunities for all, fostering an environment where every child, regardless of ability or background, can thrive academically and socially.

  • Sports

    Voice of World champions inclusivity by nurturing the sporting spirit of differently-abled individuals. Each year, it organizes Inter-State Cricket and Chess Tournaments exclusively for the visually impaired, providing them a competitive platform to shine. In addition, the organization, an affiliate of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, leads annual trekking and adventure expeditions across India—especially to the Himalayas—empowering participants through nature and challenge. These programs not only foster physical fitness and resilience but also promote self-confidence and community among participants.
