Foundation for Child Protection–Muskaan, based in Pune since 2000, is one of India’s pioneering NGOs focused exclusively on combating child sexual abu Read morese (CSA) through a robust multi‑disciplinary model. Founded by Shubhada Ranadive and Sharmila Raje, and supported by a skilled team of coordinators, counsellors, and in‑house legal experts, the organisation operates across prevention, case support, counselling, legal aid, and community outreach. Muskaan’s vision is to build safe, CSA‑free communities with zero tolerance toward abuse. It pursues this through awareness workshops in schools, trainings for parents, teachers, and law‑enforcement personnel on recognizing signs, understanding consent, and using the POCSO Act in a child‑centered manner. It also supports survivors and families in navigating police, courts, and medical care—all complemented by free, long‑term counselling using evidence‑based therapies like REBT and CBT. Muskaan extends healing programs to children in conflict with the law and those in institutional care, using arts, life‑skills training, and vocational skilling under programs like Project Hausla and Project Koshish. Its community interventions—puppet shows, street theatre, wall‑painting campaigns—empower local ownership and amplify awareness in Pune’s neighborhoods.
