Programs
-
Child Care & Protection Programme
Since 2002, SNEHA has actively run the Child Care and Protection programme. It includes the operation of Stafan Children's Home, which offers shelter, education, and healthcare to children in need, with a particular focus on orphans, semi-orphans, and underprivileged children. SNEHA ensures that children receive support until they attain self-sufficiency through education or skill training, relieving parents of any financial burden. This initiative is made possible through support from CTW Germany.
-
AIDS Prevention Programme
Since 2008, SNEHA has been actively involved in the Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Migrant Population programme. Initially, it commenced its efforts with 5,000 destination migrants and has now expanded its reach to 10,000 migrants. The programme comprises various components, including the identification of new migrants, raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and STIs, promoting condom use through the establishment of hot spot outlets, conducting health camps and HIV/AIDS testing, as well as organising street theatres in local languages. It also engages in advocacy meetings and congregation events tailored to the needs of the migrant population. This vital initiative receives support from APSACS.
-
Education Programme
In the year 2000, SNEHA established SNEHA (EM) SCHOOL, aiming to deliver quality education to underprivileged families in villages and urban slums. This educational institution caters to families with low incomes, requiring only nominal tuition fees. Committed educators provide instruction, despite receiving minimal salaries. The school offers classes from L.K.G to 7th grade and holds Government recognition until 2027. Furthermore, SNEHA ensures that 25% of all students receive free education in accordance with the RTE Act.
-
Tribal Development Programme
SNEHA's Tribal Development Programme is actively impacting 650 tribal communities. It encompasses two key activities: first, the plantation effort, covering 500 acres for 500 families, and second, the provision of income generation opportunities for 150 landless tribes through the distribution of buffalos, goats, and sheep, and the promotion of country hen rearing. The organisation has also established 50 women's groups and strengthened them through various training initiatives. By mobilizing government resources and facilitating subsidies for schemes like drip irrigation and solar pump sets, SNEHA empowers these communities. Additionally, the establishment and support of village Development Committees ensure self-management for the future, with support from NABARD.
-
Skill Development Programme
SNEHA is actively involved in skill development, catering to adolescent girls, women, and youth in various trades such as tailoring, embroidery, batik painting, candle making, carpentry, cell phone repair, and electrical wiring and repair. This initiative has received support from CARE India and NABARD in the years 2005-2007 and 2015-2017. Presently, SNEHA extends its training to school and college dropout girls in rural areas, offering short-term courses ranging from one month to six months. The organisation has successfully provided training to 900 girls, boys, and women, equipping them with valuable skills for a brighter future.
